Nice Drive Out on the Interstate

Friday was an exciting day. Not only did I get to see N*W*C but I also got news from my girlfriend that Georgetown had accepted her off the waitlist into there SMP (Special Masters Program) program in Physiology. Friday was definitely an exciting day. There’s one little concern to this great news though. The Georgetown SMP starts on the 9th which means my girlfriend, Diep, would be flying out on the 7th which means our plans to see each other at the end of the month… completely washed away. We’d still make plans to see each other after she got settled in of course but considering the last time we saw each other was the 1st week of July… the long distance thing sucks much more. After having to think about that my whole work day and not being able to go to ComiCon on Saturday, my weekend was starting to look very sucky too. Fortunately there was N*W*C to 0728_085053.jpgkeep me entertained. However, when I got home to my empty apartment (since my roommate, John, is off doing pharm rotations) I thought to myself “I am not just gonna sit here all weekend.” So I quickly washed up, packed some things and jumped in my car for a lil 5.5 hour, 350 mi trip to see Diep. That was one hellova drive and I do not recommend it to anyway. Driving for 5.5 hours starting at 1:30am is not what I would consider a nice drive out on the town. I had to hop myself up on energy drinks to make it and that barely kept me from knocking out behind the wheel. At about 6am I got to Morgan Hill and that was it. I pulled over and KO’d for about 3 hours.

I woke up at 9am, looking like I’ve been beat by a slave driver and happy about it, and went to see Diep.
I spent much of the day sleeping and eating. By while I was awake I was able to spend time with Diep and accompanied her to our friends, John (not my roommate) and Marie, engagement party. After that we hung out at the park for a while then I went back to sleep before heading back to the MPK at 1:30am.

My body hates me and my head still feels mushy but I’m happy because the “Juice” is definitely “Worth the Squeeze!”

Cheers and have a great week.

Now before the barrage of controversial race finger pointing beings check out the N*W*C webpage and see what it’s all about. They put race issues on it’s head with their humor and their profound stories. This last Friday I got a chance to finally check out the show with a few friends. We’ve been wanting to go see this for almost as long as we’ve been in LA. Which is about 2 years now. And it is definitely worth the $20 ticket. Since there is no amount of rambling that I could do that would give the show justice I’ll just hope that you all will be able to catch the show.

N*W*C is actually done with the their LA shows at the Ivar theater but they are about to go on a nation wide tour. They don’t have the tour schedule up yet but it’s suppose to go up this week. Check the schedule at NWCLIVE.COM and go see the show that will have you laughing your heart out! Here’s a clip I found off of youtube so that you can have a small sample.

Who Wants a Kwik-E-Mart?

I Dooooooooooooo!

KwikEMartSign03.jpg

That’s how I felt last weekend when Vo-cano and I went to the Kwik-E-Mart. We had just dropped P.Le off at her place so she could go to Snow Patrol and looked up directions to the Kiwk-E-Mart on my trusty MotoMing a1200. Convenient for us, the Kwik-E-Mart was just around the way! We swing by and see a growing line. Initially I didn’t want to wait in a line to go into the Kwik-E-Mart but when we got there… we couldn’t just leave! We came all this way! So of course we waited. The line didn’t take long anyway.

As a side note: while waiting in line big SUV breaks down. Behind them is big Sobe Bus. Couple people emerge from bus to help. SUV want to go left but try & fail. Traffic and incline of road made difficult. They decide to go right but must wait for light. Cars behind Sobe Bus can’t see and honk. After few minutes, horde of kids emerge from bus to help. Light turns green again and viola! Successfully pushed SUV with help from nice guys on the Sobe Bus. World still has good people.

Once getting in Vo-cano held a place in the Squishee line…

The Juice is Worth the Squeeze

This weekend has been marked with little productivity and a lot of relaxing. After doing nothing but rest last weekend I felt I needed to get more work done this weekend. However, my roommate, John, was back in town and I couldn’t just disregard him for work now could I? This brings us to the age old question (dated as far back at 27 March 2004 when ‘The Girl Next Door’ was released) “Is the Juice worth the Squeeze?”

This is the situation:
Since I enjoyed the life of a bum last week, there were a lot of things I wanted to get done this week. One of those things included cleaning up the apartment. I still haven’t put my laundry away from last weekend and I have been leaving dishes in the sink all week. Aside from house chores, I needed to make some phone calls in regards to my real estate ventures in Las Vegas and I needed to call my boss at Monograms Plus in Westwood to let him know I’ll be moving soon and he needs to find a replacement. There’s also a lot learning I need to fix up my VVAH website. The website is up but it doesn’t look like much so it’s a bit shameful and I need to do a lot of work on it. I did ask a friend to help me with it in order to get everything to flow better but his 9-5 has got him actually working these days. That’s fine though, I enjoy learning new things and it looks like PHP would be a good addition to my html. Acronyms are exciting aren’t they?

In any case that’s what I wanted to get done. But, like I said, John was in town for the weekend so I had to spend time with him right? Is ignoring my roommate to get my work done worth it? Or, is the juice worth the squeeze? Easy choice; No, it is not. Which meant a lot of eating and sitting around shooting the breeze. We also went swimming a couple of times and despite the fact that I’ve been swimming much more than he has lately I still don’t come close to beating him in a freestyle race. I did get some work done though. John also had to spend time with his girlfriend, Pauline, and take his afternoon naps. Thus, I was able to make a phone call, do some reading on the workings of the internet and my dishes. About half my to do list. Not too shabby.

Anyway, we also got to talk about getting back into shape. Now this is very important. Who cares how successful you are if you are not healthy enough to enjoy the fruits of your labor, right? So John and I came to an agreement. He’s going to be working on his six pack and I’ll work on getting back into shape. He’s already in much more shape than I am so that’s why he’s concentrating on his mid section. However, with our schedules it won’t be an easy task to find the time to work out. So there’s gotta be a lot of extra work, focus, and very little slacking, yet, to this I must say that the Juice is definitely worth the Squeeze. And in several months, I’d like to show you why it is worth all the hard work. Haha, Cheers!

Crash and Burn

What a weekend! Not only did I have trouble sleeping on Friday night, I continued to have trouble sleeping through the weekend. Due to my sleep troubles, my weekend was pretty much a wash. I have a pile of notes on my desk of things that I need to get done and it remains there untouched by productive hands. If it weren’t for the fact that Chris was in LA for a wedding and kept me company, when he wasn’t off with his prior arrangements, I probably would have had a melt down to culminate my crashing and burning. Ok, so it was a good recovery weekend. I slept in (at least until noon), ate (notably some really good Mango Curry and Coconut rice, which everyone should go try, at Yazmin Malaysian restaurant with Pauline), listened to music (enjoying DJ Khaled’s ‘We the Best’ album and Bone Thugs ‘I Tried’), played video games (Ultimate Spider-Man on my NDS Lite), and read comics (Joss Wheden’s Astonishing X-men) and some of Khaled Hosseini’s ‘the Kite Runner’.

Aside from resting this weekend, I was pretty much incapacitated. Woke up late and slothed around until I got some food and stimulation, did none of the work that I had intended to, and could be compared to a walking, talking, amoeba reacting to enjoyable stimulation. I guess juggling my 9-5, my part time job, my bills, my family, friends, gf, moving plans, and upcoming projects finally caught up to me. Felt like my circuits overheated and needed a reboot. I’m better now (not a walking, talking, amoeba) but I’m still trying to get my rest and make it through the week. I’ll be moving soon so I do need to get my act together, there will be much to do when I do move, however a part of getting my act together is ensuring that I’m healthy so I can handle everything that is to come.

For now… rest.
